우선, 코마상태라는 말은 다들 한번씩 들어보셨을겁니다. 코마상태라 함은 깊은 의식불명 상태, 즉 혼수상태를 말하는데 깊은 잠을 의미하는 그리스어 에서 유래되었다고합니다. 코마상태에 있는 사람은 깨울 수가 없고 일반적으로 고통이나 빛, 소리 등에도 반응하지 않는 상태입니다. 식곤증이 마치 코마와 유사한 상황같은데에서 Food coma 라는 표현이 사용하게 되었습니다.
